Growing up, I was unaware that God cared about me personally and certainly did not understand the extent of Jesus’ sacrifice for my sins or that I could have a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe.  My worldview was based on my own wisdom and life experiences. Being independent-minded and fraught with emotional baggage, it was not until my second marriage faced serious problems that I finally got to the end of myself.  I got down on my knees and cried out to God.  Not even sure if He was listening, I gave Him my life, my marriage, and my kids, and asked Him to please fix the situation.  I was unaware at the time that my husband, Steve, had also been praying for God’s help. He had made a decision for the Lord as a preteen, but had not received any discipleship afterward and drifted from church.

In three days, the wall of tension between us was gone and we could speak with each other and work through everything.  We both knew that God had miraculously intervened, so began looking for a church to learn more about this God who cared.  My eyes were opened to a spiritual reality that I previously didn’t even know existed. Determined not to waste another day, Steve and I have been following and serving Jesus ever since – me in children’s ministry and Steve in sound ministry. Through reading and studying the Bible, sermons, Bible studies, books, prayer, music, articles, & later through preparations to teach kids, the Lord revealed Himself to me and over time, corrected my faulty thinking. The biological process involved with renewing our minds is explained in a 90-second video clip called “The Human Brain” from the “Treatment” series by “Elevation Church“.

When our older daughter was a preteen, I saw things in her science textbook that I knew had been proven false and saw that the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation’s history had been gleaned out of her social studies textbooks. I also saw that many biographies in the elementary library did not include the faith that motivated their contributions (ie. George Washington Carver). God gave me a passion for truth – I began researching evidence and built a library of books, DVDs, & magazines on Creation vs. Evolution and history to give my kids a more balanced understanding. I took advantage of Bible Institute classes offered through a partnership of “The Master’s University” and local churches.  I enjoyed Systematic Theology, Hermeneutics, Old Testament Survey, etc. and became more interested in the Creation vs. Evolution debate through an elective class taught by David F. Coppedge, founder of both “Creation/Evolution Headlines”and “Creation Safaris” (also a gifted photographer). 

God impressed on my heart years ago that preteens needed intentional ministry to give them a place where they felt accepted & loved, and learn that actual evidence (rather than evolutionary interpretations of evidence) was better explained by the biblical account. My experience showed me that they were capable of learning at a deeper level than most curriculum provided, so I developed numerous apologetic series to give them answers so they could deepen their faith, develop the knowledge & confidence to engage their world before entering youth ministry, and have opportunities to serve. Copyright issues prevent me from sharing them on this site (they include clips from DVDs we owned as well as reproducible teaching resources). However, I’d be happy to discuss them and provide information on resources used upon request at no charge.

I’ve experienced peace, strength, joy, forgiveness, sense of purpose, and sustaining power through life’s inevitable trials from the One who created me – to the point that my heart’s desire is that everyone would know their Creator as I do. Anyone who fully trusts in Jesus Christ can experience this too. We follow a great cloud of witnesses throughout history in proclaiming freedom and abundant life through Him. I have discovered personally that God wastes no pain. Although this world is broken due to mankind’s sin, those who keep their eyes on Jesus have supernatural help and look forward to a new heaven and a new earth without the pain and evil of our present world.

God called me to equip the next generation with His love and truth in 1991. The Lord recently had me in a time of green pastures recovering from surgeries as a result of injuries the prior year, which gave me the time to create this site, have more time to study and research, as well as participate in more training for the calling He’s given me. I have been following a pastor friend’s (Jeff) wisdom – to “trust God and do the next thing”. Since then, God had me create this website, called me to lead a preteen weekly life group, a women’s Bible study small group, and families on Creation field trips (explaining exhibits through a biblical worldview using recent discoveries). He also had me teach a weekly elementary science class for a small home school group & tutor elementary math for a season, sub teach in a local Christian school, and as needed, to lead a small group for post-abortion healing through a local pregnancy center.

God recently placed me back in vocational ministry as the part-time preteen ministry leader at our church. He has been so faithful to meet our needs as we’ve followed His leading. Trusting God is life’s ultimate adventure! “Here I am, Lord – send me!”
