Socialism – Equal Poverty & Loss of Freedom

article by site founder, Connie Rice

The Amerian educational system has failed in its responsibility to adequately educate newer generations about the dangers of Socialism and how it is the vehicle used by Marxists/Communists to gain power by promoting it as a fairer system from which the people will benefit. If we do not properly understand what has happened throughout history, then we are prone to believing these lies to our own detriment as individuals and as a nation. Our founding fathers sacrificed so much and their focus was on posterity (most young people now are not even familiar with the term). In recent decades, the focus has increasingly been on self and the here and now and how our decisions affect future generations is no longer the priority.

“A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
But righteousness delivers from death. The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish, but He casts away the desire of the wicked. He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.”

Proverbs 10:1-5

“To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association – the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.”

quote from Thomas Jefferson

Socialism takes away the free market, which has proven to be the best economic systerm in the world for prosperity and freedom (in Western Civilization and especially in America). What many take for granted can be destroyed very quickly and may not be able to be recovered for decades, if ever. The government makes promises that sound good to people and in the beginning, even seem good. There is no such thing as “free things” – nothing is free; someone has to pay for it. The government does not make money – it can only take money from taxpayers. Therefore, it’s only productive private companies and indivduals that pay for everything the government gives out. It has not and cannot provide the utopia promised by those who promote it.

“The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples’ money.”

Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain

“Socialists cry ‘Power to the people’, and raise the clenched fist as they say it. We all know what they really mean – power over people, power to the State.”

Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain

Once the resources are taken from productive members of society and either kept by those in power or given to those who not productive, there is nothing left to distribute. The result is shortages of necessary food & supplies, and everything else people need to thrive. Supermarket shelves become bare and as a result, the government rations food and other necessities. By then, those in power (who make sure that they and their families live quite well regardless of the harm done to others) have historically expanded their power by taking over the media and all means of production. Anyone who disagrees is seen as a threat and faces arrest, imprisonment, and even death. The resulting oppressive government rules with fear and the freedom of speech, assembly, and religion disappear.

“Any power must be an enemy of mankind which enslaves the individual by power and by force, whether it arises under the Fascist or the Communist flag. All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded to the individual.”

Albert Einstein

“You see, free markets encourage people of all talents and backgrounds to use their gifts creatively to find their particular niche. Opportunities involve imagination, ingenuity, innovation, productivity, and service to others. In a free market, people can actively work to fulfill the cultural commission and to follow the principles and commands in other biblical passages on work, stewardship, productivity, and charity. They benefit from the rewards that the market affords them by serving others efficiently and well.”

quote from article, “Twelve Bible Passages that Destroy Socialism and Uphold Free Enterprise, Part 4” from “Discover Bedrock Truth“

Great resources to better understand the difference dangers of Socialism:

“Just as God does not want people to be coerced in spiritual matters, so too he does not want them to be coerced in earthly matters, for instance, in their economic activities. There is not a single reference in either the Old or New Testament in which God denies economic freedom to people, as in fascism, socialism, and communism.”

quote by sociologist and historian, Alvin J. Schmidt, from his book, “How Christianity Changed the World”

May each of us choose to protect what God has entrusted to us in our nation and may we focus on how decisions that we make now will affect our posterity (future generations). May we choose wisely to protect freedom in our generation. The prince of this world will eventually remove freedoms according to biblical prophecy (antichrist), but may we be diligent as our forefathers have been to preserve our actual history and principles. They are, after all, based on biblical principles. God gave us the gift of free will – may we use it in the power of the Holy Spirit for the benefit of others and our nation rather than in tearing it down or giving up. May God be able to bless America once again.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14
